Explore Steuben is the destination’s official storyteller. We get to share the best kept secrets, so you don’t miss out. We’re the ones hollering, far and wide, about the astonishing and, sometimes life-changing, innovations happening in small towns you may have never heard of, but probably should. Our intention is simple. We want to show you the wonderful ways you can make the most of life.

When you are the birthplace for one of the world’s premiere wine regions, the hometown where early American aviation “grew up and went wild,” the epicenter for glass innovations that have revolutionized the world for nearly a century-and-a-half . . . you have some unique and rather remarkable stories to tell.

The Steuben County Conference and Visitors Bureau (SCCVB), DBA Explore Steuben, is a not-for-profit, 501(c)6 non-membership organization established in 1994 and the official tourism development and marketing organization for Steuben County, NY.

When you are the birthplace for one of the world’s premiere wine regions, the hometown where early American aviation “grew up and went wild,” the epicenter for glass innovations that have revolutionized the world for nearly a century-and-a-half . . . you have some unique and rather remarkable stories to tell.

Our mission is to stimulate the local tourism economy through authentic storytelling, supporting and developing destination amenities, and connecting visitors to the Southern Finger Lakes.

Using a strategic and research-based approach, we craft and share the county’s unique stories with the intention of inspiring visitation and, as a result, increasing accommodation stays and tourism spending within Steuben County.

Explore Steuben is “Non-Member Based."

What does that mean? Primary funding for Explore Steuben comes from occupancy tax (aka bed tax) which is an additional tax paid by visitors who stay in accommodations throughout Steuben County. This allows us to represent and promote ALL tourism-related businesses and experiences in Steuben County, as we do not operate under a “pay-to-play” model.

In other words, we don’t just promote the people who pay us which is the typical “membership-based” model.
